Safety
Your safety on every RYDO trip
These are the safety features in the RYDO rider and captain apps today. We only list what the apps actually do. If something here is not working for you, tell us at support@rydoind.in.
- Start OTPYour trip can’t start until the captain enters the 4-digit code shown on your screen.
- Know your captainSee your captain’s name, vehicle and number plate before you get in.
- Share your tripSend a live link that family can open in any browser to follow your ride.
- SOS buttonCall 112 in one tap from the trip screen, or send RYDO an alert with your location.
- Emergency contactsSave the people you trust in the app so they are a tap away.
- Fare shown firstSee the fare estimate before you book. Nothing to negotiate at pickup.
Quick check before every ride
- Match the number plateCheck that the plate on the vehicle matches the one in the app.
- Check your captainMake sure the captain’s name and vehicle match what the app shows.
- Then share your OTPRead out your 4-digit code only once you are with the right captain.
- Share your tripTap Share trip so family can follow your ride live.
Before you get in
When a captain accepts your ride, the app shows their name, vehicle and number plate. Check that the number plate matches before you get in. If it doesn’t match, don’t get in: cancel the ride and book again.
Your fare estimate is shown before you book, so there is nothing to negotiate at pickup.
Starting the trip with an OTP
Every ride has a 4-digit code that only you can see. The captain must enter it before the trip can start, which confirms the right rider is in the right vehicle. After five wrong attempts the code locks. Only share your OTP once you are with the captain and have checked the vehicle.
Share your trip live
On the trip screen, tap Share trip and send the link by WhatsApp, SMS or any other app. The person you send it to can follow your captain’s location and your route in a web browser, with no app or account needed. The link works only while the trip is in progress and stops working when it ends. Trip sharing is for rides; it isn’t available for parcel deliveries.
In an emergency
Tap the SOS button on the trip screen. You get two options:
- Call 112: connects you to India’s emergency number. This is the fastest way to get help.
- Alert RYDO Support: records an alert with your ride and current location in RYDO’s system.
RYDO does not yet guarantee a response time to an in-app alert. If you are in danger, call 112 first.
Emergency contacts
In the rider app, open Profile › Emergency contacts to save people you trust. They are stored on your phone, so they are quick to reach when you need them.
Who drives with RYDO
Captains sign in with a verified phone number and upload their driving licence, vehicle registration (RC), vehicle insurance, Aadhaar or PAN, and a live selfie taken in the app. RYDO’s team reviews each document and asks the captain to upload it again if it is rejected. Read more in our Driver Verification Policy.
After your trip
You can rate your captain when the trip ends. To report a problem, use Profile › Help & Support in the app or email support@rydoind.in. Complaints are handled under our Grievance Redressal Policy. Left something behind? See the Lost Property Policy.
